BDP Stretches Lead In AJ100
BDP has strengthened its place at the top of the AJ100, a position it has held for six consecutive years, by increasing its lead during the past 12 months.
BDP was awarded the overall top position in the most definitive survey of the UK's biggest architectural practices involved in all major construction projects. The practice also received the London and South East Regional award and a commendation for sustainability at the ceremony last night (2 May 2006) in London.
For the inaugural AJ Sustainability Award the judges were looking for evidence that the schemes were dealing with energy use as a fundamental design issue, and client thinking about energy and sustainability had altered as a result of the architect and professional team's work.
According to AJ's UK Architecture/ Major Players publication, 'The jury was particularly impressed by the efforts of [BDP's] sustainability unit to introduce a sophisticated understanding of sustainability issues into BDP projects, and by the practice's success in developing DREAM (Defence Related Environmental Assessment Method), a tool designed to assess the environmental performance of Ministry of Defence buildings across the whole of its estate.'
