BDP wins Sustainable Designer Award
BDP has won the top award at the second Sustainable Building Services Journal Awards at a ceremony in London on Friday 7 November. BDP won the Sustainable Designer/Consultancy category beating Arup, Atkins, Jones Lang LaSalle and Ramboll Whitbybird.
The Sustainable Building Services Awards, organised by Building Services Journal and Electrical and Mechanical Contractor magazines, were successfully launched last year to recognise the very best in sustainable construction, and reward those that have incorporated sustainability effectively into their own or their client’s business.
Richard Buckingham, sustainability director at BDP said, "This award reflects our successful approach to incorporating environmental design and sustainability thinking into the design of buildings and is a testament to the innovative and cutting edge solutions which BDP drives forward throughout our projects. It also recognises the continuous effort and commitment of all BDP staff to improve the sustainability performance of our projects."
The judges were particularly impressed by BDP’s track record of integrating sustainability throughout their projects and influencing clients, and for setting high standards and targets for all of their offices and projects.
BDP was also shortlisted in two other categories, most sustainable refurbishment for Wicklow County Council in Ireland, and sustainability champion of the year for Belinda McGahey.
Earlier this year BDP won the best of the best award at the Building Services Awards for Leigh Academy in Dartford. This was chosen by the judges from amongst all the category winners, for the highest overall achievement in building services engineering this past year. BDP is also shortlisted in this year’s sustainability awards for both Sustainable Engineer, and Sustainable consultant of the Year, due to be announced on 19 November.
