BDP Greens Lewisham
BDP has completed the transformation of a series of green spaces for the London Borough of Lewisham. The Pepys Park project consisted of enhancing and improving six parks within the Pepys Estate in Deptford on the edge of the River Thames. BDP was appointed as landscape architect for the project which aims to increase use of the green spaces on the estate, reduce crime and fear of crime, improve lighting, furniture and signage, introduce planting diversity and improve the provision of children’s play areas.
The London Borough of Lewisham held a spring fair on 12 March for the residents of North Deptford to celebrate the regeneration of the parks. The event, with live music, games for kids and rickshaw rides, attracted a good turnout of people from the area.
BDP has previously designed several green spaces in Lewisham, including the award winning Cornmill Gardens and Margaret McMillan Park.
