BDP is an accredited Living Wage Employer and applies this standard to all staff over the age of 18, including directly employed staff, contracted staff and subcontracted staff such as caterers, cleaners and security.
A recent study published by the Architects’ Journal shows that more than one in 10 Part 1 students in practice outside London earn less than the real living wage.
Debra Larkman HR director at BDP said: “We are proud to be accredited with the Living Wage Foundation. This confirms our long held commitment to reward our employees appropriately and enable them to enjoy a comfortable lifestyle and now extends that commitment to our suppliers.”
The Real Living Wage is set higher than the National Minimum Wage and the National Living Wage set by government. It is calculated by The Living Wage Foundation, an independent body which sets the figure according to the cost of living.
