BDP is part of a collaboration between a leading development company in China and healthcare leaders in the UK to share NHS expertise on providing high quality patient care, and which will lead to the introduction of joined up health and care in state-of-the-art facilities in China. The deal will also see millions of pounds generated and reinvested in patient care in the UK.
The partnership also involves Rongqiao Group in China, Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Northumberland County Council and The Christie NHS Foundation Trust.
The initial stage will see the UK partners supporting the Rongqiao Group with all elements of building a world class multi-specialist hospital with a cancer centre of excellence in Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian Province. BDP will provide architecture and design services for the project.
Andrew Smith, head of healthcare said: “BDP looks forward to the opportunity of working with Northumbria, The Christie and the Rongqiao Group. We are excited about the prospect of collaborating with the NHS to bring UK hospital experience to the Chinese healthcare market.”
The team is also putting plans in place for a further project, the development of a 500-bed world-class cancer hospital and community and elderly care services in Chongqing, south west China's commercial capital.
