Lijnden East Masterplan

Location Client Size Completion
Schiphol, the Netherlands Schiphol Area Development Company nv 30 hectares design 2000, realisation ongoing

Project details

The design of Lijnden East Industrial Park for the airport development authority is based on the orthogonal grid, which is the underlying logic of the development of this polder. As a contrasting element, the central east-west axis is defined in the form of a crescent-shaped body of water, which forms the heart of the Park. In addition to the urban design and landscaping, BDP.khandekar also designed two new bridges for the park.

The design of the two concrete bridges, with their sinuous curves, is inspired by the gentle curve of the crescent. The bridges were nominated for the Dutch Concrete Association Annual Award and their sculptural quality has been widely appreciated.
