According to a recent report by the Institute for Economics & Peace, it is projected that by 2050, 70 percent of the global population will reside in urban areas, a significant increase from the current 54 percent as of 2020. This surge in urbanisation can be attributed to both population growth and an ongoing trend towards city living.
As placemakers dedicated to shaping the built environment, it is crucial for us to ensure that the demand for high density development is met with an approach that is equitable, sustainable, and economical. We must strive to foster innovation that creates thriving communities where residents and societies can prosper.
In this report, we invite members from our global multidisciplinary collective to share their insights on a key design consideration for successful high-density living in their cities, and the value it can bring.
