Cherry Tree Centre

Bristol, UK North Bristol NHS Trust £4m

Project details

The Cherry Tree Centre is a major refurbishment ande extension of a historic building to accommodate outpatient breast care services and a MacMillan Wellbeing Centre.

Located in the heart of the new £430m Southmead Hospital site, the Cherry Tree Centre is housed in buildings that date back to the 1900s. They have been developed to a high standard to meet the requirements of the Trust and are sensitive to the surrounding environment and the activities that take place within. A cherry tree garden opposite the main hospital square is protected and forms the principle focus of the design.

BDP’s approach to the design was carefully thought through in relation to the brief and sensitive to the needs of patients who will be using the facility. The designs were sympathetic to the historic building and worked with the beautiful older features of the building to create a design that is both contemporary and preserves those beautiful old features. Lovely Interior design proposals were developed that added quality to the scheme. BDP has also played a strong role in ensuring that the integrity of the original design vision is maintained and, where possible, enhanced. They go the extra mile and are proactive in identifying critical issues and ensuring these are resolved.
