Valhalla village: advancing affordable and sustainable living in Toronto

Valhalla Village is progressing quickly! This transformative mixed-use development in Toronto reflects BDP Quadrangle’s commitment to inclusive, sustainable urban living.

Located at the corner of Bloor Street West and The East Mall, the project is bringing much-needed affordable rental housing to the Eatonville-Bloorlea community.

Now well under construction, the development includes an 11-storey east tower and a 30-storey west tower, which together will deliver 494 rental units—172 of which are affordable. Designed to foster community connection, the project also includes retail and community spaces that will create a vibrant neighbourhood hub.

Sustainability is at the heart of the design, with modern methods of construction accelerating the construction schedule and reducing construction waste. This strategy supports our goal of achieving Zero Carbon Building certification through the Canada Green Building Council, setting a new benchmark for sustainable mid- and high-rise construction in the city.

Significant milestones have already been reached on site. The east tower is rising quickly, with cladding installation underway, while the west tower continues to rise, with formwork progressing steadily. Precast panels with integrated windows are already in place, underscoring the efficiency of the building system and the clarity of the design.

Valhalla Village Phase 1 stands as a model for how thoughtful architecture can meet urgent housing needs, support environmental goals, and strengthen community life. We look forward to seeing this important project continue to take shape!
