BDP was approached by the University of Birmingham to design the interiors of their first flagship international campus bringing their world class British university education to the global city of Dubai.
The campus is located within the sprawling Dubai International Academic City, home to 149 different nationalities, where various other prestigious universities have already set up their campuses.
The development is situated across two floors with a built up area of 2,601 sqm. Complete with a two storey high reception area, flexible spaces, 180 seat lecture theatre, laboratories, seminar spaces and computer rooms. All classrooms and lecture halls are fitted with digital infrastructure and conferencing facilities linking both campuses. A consistent overall ‘look and feel’ for the learning spaces with the Birmingham campus itself was a critical part of the design intent.
This incubator facility is a vibrant educational space while the larger purpose built campus is being designed and built, within close proximity.
