Our Toronto Studio

Toronto studio members have many opportunities to get involved, build relationships, and grow their careers through a variety of initiatives, including, but not limited to:
- Studio Pulse: our annual employee engagement survey;
- QuadSquad: led by an active social committee, past events have included paintballing, escape rooms, skate night, and go-karting;
- vodaQuad: year-round involvement in sports leagues;
- Continuing education support: we offer a robust Lunch and Learn program and reimbursement for seminars and courses;
- Incentivised programs for professional accreditation: BDP Quadrangle covers exam and licensing fees;
- Community involvement: our annual charitable events such as Community Impact Week, Ride for Heart, Canstruction, and qSalon are popular and always a highlight.
Continuous learning opportunities
The growth and development of our people is one of our top priorities. That’s why we offer a range of informal and formal learning opportunities, to help our people acquire new hard and soft skills, and get to the next step of their careers.
We have a competency-based approach to our annual appraisals, encouraging people to discuss their career aspirations and their development needs. We have several mentoring programs that people can engage with, and an internal online learning platform that houses over 300 training and development courses. These cover topics from interpersonal skills, to comprehensive training for BIM software, and everything in between. Each profession also hosts online and in person professional development events to help colleagues keep their skills and knowledge up to date.
Our Show and Tell presentations and Design Forums are where people share their ideas on design, and take deep dives into our most interesting and unique projects from across the practice. Our innovation group, BDP Lab also brings together formal and informal research and thought leadership, running practice-wide challenges to encourage innovation and new thinking.
