Accessibility consulting to ensure the historic building’s new student amenities will be accessible to all students.

University of Toronto Student Commons exterior

The Student Commons are housed in a building originally designed for the Royal College of Dental Surgeons in 1909. Most recently, the building was occupied by the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape & Design.

Our inclusive design consultancy, Human Space, provided accessibility consulting to ensure the building’s new student amenities will be accessible to all students. New amenities include club space, rehearsal areas, student service offices, an eatery, multi-faith spaces, lounges, and meeting rooms.

This project was executed in close collaboration with the University of Toronto Student Union to facilitate a final design that will serve students and provide a robust experience for all students, including those with disabilities.
