Steve is a main board director, principal of our Manchester studio, Head of our Shanghai and MENA studios, and director of architecture for Shanghai.

Steve has over 35 years’ experience in all aspects of design, including masterplanning, mixed use regeneration schemes, leisure developments, department stores, shopping centres and other types of retail outlets. He took a leading role in masterplanning Liverpool 1, to support the regeneration of 42 acres of city centre space.

In China, Mexico and the Middle East, Steve is responsible for the design of retail and retail led mixed use developments, skyscrapers, high rise residential, theatres, exhibition halls, R&D facilities, offices and headquarters, hotel, leisure resorts, theme parks, creative adaption and preservation of historic buildings, large scale urbanism and masterplanning of cities.

How is the architecture profession changing? “The principles of design excellence do not change, but the tools for exploring design have developed enormously. The 3D capability of computers has been the most exciting development in architectural design in recent years.”
