James leads the landscape architecture profession across our northern studios.
Based with the team in Manchester he also has responsibility for the landscape architecture teams in both our Birmingham and Sheffield studios. He specialises in the design of urban streets, parks and open spaces and his projects include West Gorton Sponge Park and Lowfield Green, York. He was also the lead landscape designer for The Hive, the award winning UK Pavilion at the 2015 Milan Expo which was later successfully relocated to Kew Gardens.
James is also experienced in the design of education and healthcare environments including the University of Birmingham's Teaching and Learning Building, Alliance Manchester Business School and the award-winning Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool and Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.

Castlefield Viaduct
This temporary green space, transforming a disused Victorian-era railway viaduct, has become a cherished part of the Manchester community.
