Andrew is a principal and leads the environmental design group in BDP.

Working with our own architects and other leading architectural practices, he has a track record of delivering sustainable, innovative, passive and affordable schools and university buildings across the UK. Notable projects include the Stirling Prize shortlisted Hampden Gurney School and Westminster Academy, the BREEAM Excellent Highbury Grove School in Islington and the Business School for Napier University in Edinburgh.

Andrew has successfully delivered high profile, award winning projects including the Millennium Building at Wimbledon for the All England Tennis Club, the Variety Club Building at Great Ormond Street Hospital, and the Garrick Club in London.

Andrew has led the development of the building services engineering and associated acoustics, lighting and sustainability professions into a consolidated environmental design studio, ideally placed to meet the twin challenges of low carbon / high quality design.

Andrew has extensive experience as a Building Services Framework Manager under various framework agreements for clients such as, University College London, British Museum, City University London, BSF Greenwich, L&Q Housing, and Houses of Parliament.

All England Lawn Tennis Club

Ace makeover for tennis championship venue. This project was underpinned by our masterplan, which reorganised the entire championship site to improve facilities while retaining the spirit of ‘tennis in an English garden’.

Hampden Gurney

A groundbreaking city centre school and residential scheme. We created a new school over six levels — comprising a ground floor nursery, three floors of classrooms and a rooftop teaching room.

Edinburgh Napier University, Business School

Refurbishment and extension of existing building to change focus and create multi-use campus. Our business school commission followed on from our masterplan to consolidate the university’s widely scattered facilities.

Keyworth Centre, London South Bank University

Bard-inspired university building. Our flexible teaching space sits alongside a west-facing glazed hall, which acts as a naturally ventilated buffer, mediating air and light from the hot, bright side of the building.

King's College

The focal point of the Strand Campus, the King’s Building, accommodating over 3000 students and staff, suffered from chronic congestion and sub standard facilities.

Westminster Academy

The successful result of a true collaboration by a large and disparate team. We consulted closely with community groups and helped to provide a new academy resulting from a closure of an existing poorly performing school.

Highbury Grove and Samuel Rhodes School

The design wraps the teaching faculties around a new garden and external learning space, with an internal covered street creating a social route through the building.

Marlowe Academy

An inspiring secondary school for the 21st century. BDP handled every part of the project, from landscape design to interior fittings. We worked closely with the three teaching faculties to create ideal spaces for each.

Central Foundation Boys’ School

Central Foundation is a voluntary aided, comprehensive school, providing education for 933 students between the ages of 11 and 18.
