Garry is a Principal Architect and leads the mixed use retail group across the practice.

Garry specialises in complex masterplans, urban regeneration and mixed-use projects. He leads large teams who conceive and deliver significant and complex projects throughout the UK and internationally. His skills lay in conceiving and delivering beautifully designed spaces and places that generate an improvement to the wider areas. One of his specialities is vision strategies, to analyse a place or project along with its wider context and highlight opportunities for improvement, moments of interest and creation of value.

His most recent project sees the retail led mixed use repurposing of an iconic building located on Oxford Circus in central London, including office and F&B elements. The conversion included refurbishment of the Grade II listed façade and the incorporation of an IKEA store, new retail, 4-5 floors of high spec new office space with Cat A fit-out.

Detail your studio’s biggest achievement and why

My biggest achievement within the studio is the design and team management of a complex 300,000sqm retail scheme in Beijing for IICG. Designed and delivered in 5 years, with over 450 shops, 7,000 car parking spaces below ground, an integrated metro station and anchored by a 50,000sqm IKEA store.
