Kathryn is an architect and principal in the London studio and also joint head of our housing sector work.

Drawing on her 20+ years cross-sector expertise, she is widely experienced in delivering major projects which create new sustainable communities by integrating housing, mixed-use and learning. Her specialist skills in masterplanning and strategic thinking allow her to work closely with clients and user groups to set project briefs and goals, achieve planning consents on challenging sites and ensure projects are deliverable and financially viable.

She has a strategic role in developing BDP’s work in the residential sector and is currently working on major mixed-use residential led projects in London and the South East including a new community at Plumstead West Thamesmead. Among recent completions are the estate regeneration of Tollgate Gardens in Westminster and masterplans and designs for Queen Mary University of London and King's College London.

Previous projects include the highly successful Angel Lane student residences at Stratford, the RIBA award-winning masterplan for Heslington East at the University of York and the transformation of a 1980’s office building into a modern, welcoming Headquarters for the Royal Pharmaceutical Society in central London.

Unite Student Housing, Angel Lane

The building houses 750 students in a garden courtyard city block with commercial space, student facilities, foyer and exhibition space.

The new campus is designed around the concept of a new living and learning community with each element creating a sense of place and human scale.

Simply yet considerately designed college houses are skilfully manipulated in scale and massing to give the scheme its distinctive flowing/undulating roofscape; creating sunny courtyard spaces.
