Mihalis has been with BDP since 2007. During this time he has worked on a large number of projects, covering a variety of sectors which include school and higher education, healthcare, workplace, masterplanning and energy.

His experience extends across the full spectrum of the design process, from briefing and initial concept design to project delivery and on site completion. It covers team leadership and liaison and coordination with a number of parties including clients, users, local authority bodies, consultants and contractors.

Mihalis was the Lead Concept Architect on Blackburn Meadows Biomass, a 30MW plant in Tinsley, Sheffield converting waste wood to heat and power. The project has won a number of prestigious awards including a 2017 RIBA National Award, 2016 RICS Yorkshire & Humber Awards (Infrastructure award and Project of the year), and a 2016 Sheffield Design Awards (Best Building).

More recently Mihalis has been involved in the masterplan for Yorkshire Energy Park, a Business Park with Data Centre, Education and Training Facilities, and 49MW energy production infrastructure located between Hull and Hedon.

Blackburn Meadows Biomass Plant

Blackburn Meadows is a Biomass Power Plant generating energy by converting locally sourced waste wood into electricity. Located in Tinsley, Sheffield on the site of the former cooling towers, it acts as a new landmark signalling a major gateway to the city.

Universities in Libya

Ten new universities open Libya up to the West. Eighteen faculty types — covering all Engineering, Humanities and Health Sciences sectors — will accommodate 38,000 students and there will be 15,000 student residential and 600 staff units.

Carlton Community College

The building uses its steeply sloping site to full potential, minimising the impact on its greenfield location.

Located in central Greater Yangzhou, the new Ecological and Technological New City covers an area of 8,100 hectares. BDP was invited to take part in an international competition for the conceptual design of this new city.

The project vision is to provide a campus environment with all the social and cultural amenities necessary for a world-class education in a bilingual environment, with exemplar recreational facilities which will used by the wider community.

Detailed design and delivery of the Integrated Care Campus at Catterick Garrison to begin
