SANDY RETIRED FROM BDP IN 2011

Over the last 20 years Sandy has helped build our Glasgow studio into a significant design force much of the time as studio head. However he has recently handed over the reins to fellow director John McManus. Sandy continues to lead the teams in winning and delivering key projects across all sectors. He is also a main board director.

Sandy has led a range of innovative works, including the titanium-clad double curvature structure for the Glasgow Science Centre and the timber grid-shell for Napier University. Other projects include Victoria Hospital, Fife.

What is your guiding principle?
“That all projects should be conceptually strong and technically refined. Innovation and precision in both concept and detail is common to all  our projects.”
