Noche Zero - Our Time To Embrace Darkness

When: 16 -18 October 2012
Where: San Pedro de Atacama, Chile

London lighting associate Colin Ball will present Lighting and Culture in New Cities at Noche Zero, an educational summit and darkness event in the Atacama desert on 16 October. This location is the driest place on earth with the clearest skies and a centre for astronomical observation.

Organised by DIAV, Light Collective and UCN, Noche Zero targets an international group of influential  people working with urban lighting design, culture, art and heritage, astronomy, neurobiology and biology related to darkness and the night sky. It aims to connect design and science, to celebrate darkness andits impact on health, ecology and energy,.and to create a joined up methodology for light and urban design in order to help preserve darkness despite a rapidly expanding global urban population.
