Living City Exhibition

When: 7th May – 10th August
Where: Bristol Architecture Centre, Harbourside, Bristol

BDP is a corporate sponsor of the Living City exhibition currently on at the Bristol Architecture Centre, one of the initiatives in the build-up to Bristol’s role as European Green Capital 2015. The exhibition looks at how the design of buildings and open spaces in a city can improve health and happiness and shapes physical and mental wellbeing. Just as the health of individuals is maintained by the balance of body, mind and spirit the health of a city also relies on a shared condition and this exhibition uses the city as body analogy to explore how to make more liveable cities.

Head of Bristol studio, Martin Sutcliffe, will chair a series of public talks starting at 18.00 on Thursdays 12 June, 26 June and 3 July entitled Body: Mind: Spirit.  Each event will have several guest speakers including BDP’s  chair of landscape architecture, Andrew Tindsley, who will present with colleague Jo McAllister,  on the work that his team has recently done for the regeneration of the Avon River Precinct in Christchurch, New Zealand following the earthquake.  BDP directors from studios around the practice will also present on the subjects of sustainability and masterplanning and each session will be followed by a Q&A.
