Planning for Port Talbot Station

Planning permission has been granted for Port Talbot Parkway Station, one of the ten stations across England and Wales masterplanned by BDP to upgrade and redevelop Arriva Wales’ estate.

The revamped station will improve the train users’ experience and boost people’s first impression of Port Talbot when they arrive by train. The proposal is for a new high-level station with bridge connections to the existing town centre and dockside regeneration areas. Facilities include a new ticket office and waiting areas as well as a café and improvements to customer information. Best practice accessibility is a core principle of the scheme, with step-free access to the platforms and transit facilities.

Work on the station is expected to start next autumn and will take around 18 months to complete.  Similar work is already underway at Swansea and is on track to be complete in 2012.
