BDP has recruited a leading Cardiff architect to take forward further projects in Wales. Nick Durham joins from HASSELL and is well-known and respected, particularly for his work across public sector projects. Nick’s recruitment marks the start of a long-term presence in Wales, where BDP is currently working on Grange University Hospital in Gwent, Monmouth School and University of Wales Trinity St David’s new building for S4C ‘Yr Egin’.
Nick Fairham, head of BDP’s Bristol’s architecture studio explains: “We are delighted to welcome Nick to BDP. He brings a wealth of experience and ideas and is hugely respected in Cardiff, particularly in the fields of healthcare and higher education, where BDP has a strong interest. Nick’s knowledge and expertise will help us continue to grow our practices in Wales where we are proud to be working on some critical national infrastructure projects.”
A graduate of the Welsh School of Architecture at Cardiff University Nick Durham has worked in Cardiff for over 20 years, but also brings international experience to BDP, having worked on healthcare projects in Sydney, the Middle East and Scandinavia.
“Having spent a great extent of my recent career working on international projects, I am very excited to have the opportunity to focus my attention on more projects in my home country of Wales. BDP has a reputation for design quality and a track record for delivery, with flagship developments already underway in the region.
There are some great opportunities coming up and the practice has an enormous amount to offer in terms of outstanding design, strategic vision and commercial awareness. I’m looking forward to growing a strong team in Cardiff and taking on projects that help make a real difference to the people and communities of Wales.”
