Project details

A new transport hub providing a bus terminal, 850-space multi-storey car park and cycle centre with passenger waiting facility and café. The project enhances sustainable travel methods, such as cycling, scooting and walking to make their first and last mile journeys, with excellent public transport connections get them to their final destination.

The landmark building features a striking bronze and aluminium façade with twists within the design to create a wave effect across its length. The hub is surrounded by landscaped green areas including new trees and planting to boost biodiversity.

The completion Arle Court Transport Hub is a significant milestone in our mission to provide the necessary infrastructure to facilitate sustainable travel in Gloucestershire. The new facilities will not only make public transport and sustainable travel options more accessible, but also play a crucial role in reducing traffic congestion and improving air quality in Cheltenham and Gloucester.

Brief

  • Expand the bus terminal capacity to enable reliable services linking Gloucester and Cheltenham hospitals and centres

  • Brand new, net zero carbon in operation bus facility with parking for almost 1,000 cars, with the largest contactless payment EV charging point in the UK
  • Seamless connections between travel modes with a comfortable passenger experience
  • Improved active travel facilities, including indoor and outdoor waiting areas, real-time information screens, a customer information desk, toilets, secure cycle lockers, cycle hoops, cycle maintenance tools and shower changing facilities
  • Reduction in embodied carbon by 20%.
