Brilliance, Blackpool: Regeneration by Light

Facts

Location Client Completion
Blackpool, UK Blackpool Council 2010

Project details

A light and sound show commissioned by Blackpool Council as part of the Regeneration by Light project is a synchronisation of moving light, pattern, colour and sound which focuses on Birley Street in the town centre, along with supporting structures on the surrounding streets. Several themes and patterns reflect events in the town, seasons and festivals. Building on the idea of a continuous ribbon spiralling in and out of the ground, BDP’s lighting team developed the concept and design of six metal arches which spanned the length of Birley Street.

The project was a finalist for the National Lighting Design Awards in 2010.
