The inspiration for the Polideportivo is based on Callao’s rich nautical heritage and identity. It embodies the citizens’ strong connection to the sea.
Callao is a vibrant neighborhood proud of its maritime heritage and connection to the water. The new Polideportivo (Multi-Sports Arena) was designed as part of Lima2019’s cluster of three buildings at Callao and San Marcos for the PanAmerican and ParaPanAmerican Games in 2019. The Polideportivo encompasses an area of 3.2 hectares.
Part of the existing sports park was converted to meet the sports infrastructure requirements to host the Games. The fast-track renovations took 12 months to design and construct. During the PanAm Games, the Polideportivo venue will host volleyball and martial arts.
