Colindale Station is a step free access building that includes an enlarged ticket hall, ground floor commercial space and has an improved surrounding public realm.
The station is part of the council’s Colindale Area Action Plan which provides 350 new homes to the area and the station will accommodate the expected increase in population.
Colindale has a rich aviation history and the new station takes its architectural influence from this. Our design incorporates an innovative solution for a hybrid timber and steel roof structure, which supports the station’s floor. The exposed glued laminated structure references early aeronautical engineering and reveals the structure behind the station’s suspended floor. The profile of the roof is visible from Colindale Avenue and it sits comfortably amongst the adjacent residential blocks.
