Project details

The transformation of a historical 1965 newspaper print works located on the University’s Severn Campus has been refurbished into a cutting-edge teaching facility. Spanning an expansive 4,200m2, the building contains office space with hot desk facilities, cafe, break out and meeting space, lecture theatre, seminar and divisible teaching space. In line with sustainable development principles, the project integrates low-carbon technologies and strives to achieve the SKA Gold certification. Understanding the existing structure was critical to inform a complex internal remodelling. This involved the removal of preexisting floors and the introduction of new mezzanines and an external entrance canopy.

To minimise disruption to the university teaching schedule BDP implemented a phased approach, enabling workers to find and resolve any unforeseen problems early.
