A new research facility that demonstrates best practice in a low energy building design.
Labs occupy the entire ground floor and the northern side of the first and second floors, on the southern side are open plan office spaces. Areas that don’t require any natural daylight such as the cold stores, x-ray and clean rooms have been clustered centrally together with the main circulation routes.
The building demonstrates several passive design techniques including an innovative natural ventilation lab strategy. Active systems include a ground source heat pump with innovative integrated cold room and solar panel heat recovery system.
