The Hongqiao business district will comprise 350,000 sq m of office, retail and landscape within close proximity to Shanghai’s main railway station and its main domestic airport.
It is located 17km from Pudong, the existing business district in Shanghai, and will create an environment which is very different in character being a low rise development with a maximum of eight storeys.
The design carves up a large urban block into a human scale development taking into account pedestrian flow, natural light and wind paths. Office accommodation is placed around the edge, with the commercial spaces at street level toward the centre to create a dynamic entertainment focus for interaction.
The design follows the principle of 'creating places for people' and carves up a large urban block into a human scale development.
