Hounslow (West London), UK | Hounslow Council | 2013 |
The London Borough of Hounslow appointed BDP to produce a masterplan for Hounslow town centre to develop an ambitious vision for the town centre to 2021 and a viable framework for future development opportunities. The planning team at BDP led the project, working collaboratively with CBRE, GL Hearn, Urban Flow and Regeneris. BDP directed the process and led engagement with the client and various stakeholders. BDP worked closely with officers, members, local communities, town centre businesses, stakeholders and landowners, to create spatial planning, urban design, transport, economic and regeneration strategies that combine to form a comprehensive and deliverable masterplan.
The process involved a bespoke engagement programme, including regular sessions with an officer and member steering group, presentations to community and business organisations, workshops with major landowners and potential developers. Representatives from the communities were engaged at an early stage and regularly throughout the process through a People’s Panel and the draft proposals were presented to the wider community at a two day exhibition coinciding with an exciting town centre event delivered under the Mayor’s Outer London Fund.
Following the first publication of the masterplan in February 2012, BDP were re-engaged by Hounslow Council to review the plan in response to strategic changes and focusing on a development brief to assist the delivery of a major town centre development opportunity in the High Street Quarter.
The masterplan is due to be adopted in the Spring of 2013.
