Facts

Location Size
Zhangjiang, China 15,739 sqm

Project details

Our Shanghai studio’s design for the new Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Torch Park, located within the expansive Zhangjiang Science City in Shanghai’s Pudong New District, is now in the construction phase.

Sitting amongst a vast range of specialist research and development and higher education institutions, the state-of-the-art science office park aims to attract the very best talent, where collaboration within its community and the wider science city is promoted within a dynamic and interactive workplace environment.

The scheme takes advantage of the site’s spatial restrictions and its connection with the neighbouring Zhangjiang Park, by adopting a form that sweeps from the upper floors in the west down to the lower floors in the east, which adjoin the park.

Contemporary office and breakout spaces are designed to fluently connect with Zhangjiang Park’s generously landscaped open public space, to provide a permeable indoor-outdoor environment where innovation and staff wellbeing is nurtured to create an optimum work-life experience.

The building’s warm stone façade and copper-coloured flowing horizontal louvres evoke a sense of the natural landscape and combine with the striking views of the Zhangjiang Park from its interior, to create an inspirational and welcoming workplace campus setting.

A series of commercial facilities on the lower floors of the eastern side of the building open to the periphery of the Zhangjiang Park to create a vibrant public space for the surrounding community. A first floor terrace offers a place to view of Zhangjiang Park and can be utilised as a place for public activities, bringing vitality to the community of Zhangjiang.
