Design and build of an extension building for the Royal Festival Hall.





The four storey building fronts onto the Thames close to the London Eye. It sits on a linear site 8.5m wide running between the Royal Festival Hall and Hungerford Railway Bridge and extends into the arches under the railway viaduct.New retail space is accommodated in mezzanines constructed within the railway arches and on the 2nd floor of the new building fronting onto Hungerford Terrace. The building also provides a new entrance hall for the RFH staff and artists which links through to the main building.
Brief
Create a barrier block to the railway which runs alongside the Royal Festival Hall. provide new retail units and office accommodation for staff

More space freed for cultural activities in the main building the retail offer provides a draw away from the river front
