Royal Pharmaceutical Society

A tired 1980s office building has been transformed into an attractive new headquarters for the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. The facade and gable have been opened up at ground level to showcase the work of the society, promote health and to form an open, accessible and inviting addition to the local community. The new working environment is designed to be adaptable and planned to encourage greater collaboration. The conversion includes the creation of a new atrium space from an existing light well at the centre of the building and the remodelling of the ground and fourth floors into a museum, conference and gathering space for RPS staff, members and visitors. The atrium visually connects all the activities of the building and a feature staircase climbing from the library at ground floor through the atrium encourages staff integration and improves circulation around the new heart of the building. A staff restaurant and terrace at the top of the building which overlooks Tower Bridge enjoying unparalleled views east and west across the city is also available to hire, generating additional income for the RPS.
