Matthew Mayes

Matthew is an architect director in the Bristol studio leading the commercial regeneration, transport and residential sector projects in the South West.

Matthew leads the commercial regeneration and residential sector projects for BDP in the south west and places a strong emphasis on both conceptual clarity and commercial acumen to promote and deliver high quality architecture, considered spaces and a genuine user focus. He has a broad portfolio of award-winning projects including a Revo Gold Medal for Exeter's Guildhall and RIBA and RICS awards for the Gloucester Bus Station as part of the Kings Quarter regeneration. These projects are fine examples of how transport, leisure and commercial led mixed use schemes can be the catalyst for regeneration.

Working with local authorities, private developers and health trusts, Matt is designing and delivering a variety of housing-led mixed-use schemes ranging from ten to 500+ units, with the underlying ethos of sustainable development, maximising the opportunities for MMC and commercial viability.

His expertise in the blue light sector includes projects for the police, fire and ambulance organisations, covering both new build and reconfiguration schemes, assisting clients in maximising their assets whilst delivering the functional and net zero carbon requirements.
