BDP and the wider design team have been commissioned by The Community Stadium Ltd to lead the design of the new American Express Fan Zone, a sustainable visitor facility within Falmer, which is accessible to all in the widest sense and encourages enjoyment of sport, entertainment and engagement in a safe and managed environment.
BDP have developed the project framework, exploring the opportunities and constraints not only within the proposed site, but also the wider development context.
The proposals for the new Fan Zone facility will enhance the setting of the existing stadium in conjunction with a wider menu of improvements proposed by the football club. The design of the Fan Zone building has been conceived to sit comfortably within the existing stadium setting, working with the existing topography to carefully nestle the proposed interventions sympathetically within the topography of the spectator concourse, creating a welcoming and appropriately scaled beacon for arriving visitors to the stadium.
