The design follows a near zero energy, water, and waste strategy, emulating the vernacular patterns of traditional settlements. The campus consists of a series of clusters enclosed by earthen berms, which define its iconic identity. The largest berm, reaching 10 metres in height, encloses the main campus, aiding groundwater recharge and shielding the development from harsh desert winds. Beneath these berms, essential services and multi-functional spaces are integrated to maximise efficiency.

The compact campus layout encourages walking and cycling, with development concentrated in key areas while preserving the surrounding landscape. Non-motorised bus services ensure accessibility, supported by a flexible infrastructure strategy that includes rainwater and wastewater recycling, a solar park, green ecological corridors, and an integrated network of service tunnels, trenches, and shafts.
