BDP wins international competition to design the American School of Paris

The board of the American School of Paris (ASP) has voted to appoint BDP as its international architect to design a new campus for the school following an invited design competition.

After a rigorous selection process BDP’s design was chosen over Hopkins Architects and American practices Truex Cullins and Flansburgh Architects to claim the prize.

The American School of Paris is a vibrant family oriented community. Its mission is to inspire every student to achieve personal and academic excellence as an engaged global citizen by providing a challenging, innovative programme within a compassionate environment.

The design explores ways the site can be developed to provide a great 21st century learning environment for everyone at the school. It also celebrates the wonderful parkland setting at Saint-Cloud, in the western suburbs of Paris, and maximises the use of buildings and landscape to enrich the learning experience.

Chris Harding, director of architecture, said: “We have found the careful planning and professional approach by ASP to briefing and engagement an extremely positive and stimulating experience. We are excited by the commitment and enthusiasm of the school community and have a strong belief that we will be able to work collaboratively with everyone at the school”.
